Dr. Demento Still Going Strong 40 Years Later
In 1972-3 I used to listen to Dr Demento a nd his 'demented' music on the radio while getting kicked out of UCLA. It wasn't the good doctor's fault. I was just a lousy student, or I'd rather be working int he real world at KLA's radio station, as I did, or out learning in the real world. So much for pre-med. And, it was the same good doctor who, interestingly, was largely responsible for helping me graduate after being on probation. 'Heartstrings' I've never bought an album or albums that have been received better than those of Al Fabrizio. Whenever I play them in my car with toher folks listening it never fails that they will ask who is playing the music and where did I get it. If you want some beautiful music that appeals across the board this is it... and that's why I put it up , unsolicited, on this site for public consumption. Never met the man except at the street fair where I originally bought the first CD... but next time I'll have to tell him my story.

San Francisco Surf City? You don't think of SF as a surf mecca, with its cold weather and lack of surf. But wait! San Francisco DOES have surf and it actually has some nice weather in September and October . There's Ocean Beach, the Clift House, the Beach Chalet... and even some real surfers. AL DAVIS was for the underdog, as he noted on occassion. He was the Oakland Raiders owner, coach, general manager and much more for almost 50 years. . He was a true character, in the good sense - a throwback with his 'Fifties' pompadour, jumpsuits and all. Though he was a man for the working class, which is why the folks of Oakland loved him, even after he took the football team to Los Angeles for 10 years before coming back. First Orbison Impersonator Goes Out in Style
Perhaps the only available video of Kent 'Kenny' Moril as Roy Orbison and just came across a beautiful music video, from Morril, sung in the Orbison voice, ironically titled 'Would You Like To Live Forever.' What a wonderful, moving way to go out for Kent Morril. Thanks 'Kenny' for the music and memories... Sorry to say , we couldn't find a single Orbison impersonator video from Kenny but a nice interview piece at the end...

I remember first ‘discovering’ him, quite by accident, when I was in the wine country at Windsor Winery sometime probably in 1989 or '90 - the years get away from me ...
I remember being totally astonished that anyone could sound so much like Roy Orbison. After no longer being able to see the original Roy in concert, I thought it great to be a able to have someone like Morrill help fill

JACK LALANNE
Jack LaLanne was/is my hero, for several reasons .
He grew up in Berkeley, CA, and had one of the first health club’ sin Oakland, not far from my home. I remember, as a kid, watching his TV program in living black and white. He was older but I loved his spirit and self-assured attitude, something perhaps lacking in myself. He would sing ‘There’s No Tomorrow’ to the melody of “o Solo Mio,’ more familiar to me then as Elvis Presley’s ‘It’s Now or Never.’
Before exercising was popular, Lalanne was perhaps the one guy you could get behind. He
